At Golden Acorns Preschool, we believe that early childhood is the foundation for lifelong learning. Our philosophy is centred around nurturing each child's natural curiosity, creativity, and individuality through play-based learning. Visiting the picturesque village of Chilmark, you will find Golden Acorns Preschool nestled within the grounds of the village Primary School, which dates from 1860. Located in Wiltshire’s Nadder Valley and Cranbourne Chase, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and International Dark Sky Reserve, the school site is situated in pristine countryside, and is surrounded by abundant flora and fauna.
What makes Golden Acorns Chilmark distinct. Our motivation is to create the perfect foundation for development and learning, cultivated by the combined experience and expertise of the staff at Golden Acorns. Children are truly at the heart of every endeavour.
With the eventual passage of time, your child is supported through necessary changes using consciously discreet preparation. The open-plan arrangement means transitions feel fluid and natural. Children in the baby area observe the neighbouring Preschool room, watching and interacting with the eldest, who act as role models to their younger peers. Similarly our older children find their confidence subtly enhanced, through open visibility and fleeting engagement with Primary age children. This is facilitated by means of generous side-by-side outdoor play areas, serving to soften their eventual progression to School.
Relationships are the centre from which each child's journey evolves. This sense of family and connection you will find, is the thread that weaves through all Golden Acorns settings.
We offer a variety of learning experiences to meet your child's needs, Our experienced staff provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for your child to learn and grow.
Cooked healthy meals are provided each day with a prepared menu, vegetarian options are also available.
We have our very own Mini Bus which allows us to extend our learning curriculum by providing weekly trips for the children.
Our Preschool offers a real sense of home - home environment designed to provide a comfortable and engaging atmosphere for children of all ages, with a real cosy natural environment. We have age-appropriate toys, books, and equipment, as well as outdoor play areas and a nutritious meal programme.
Refreshingly modest size. Akin to the popular micro- schooling movement, this humble setting offers a rare opportunity for children to be nurtured within a reassuring space of warmth and community. Notably, by limiting numbers we ensure unmatched adaptability, tailoring care and holistic approach, in response to individual needs. This atonement sustains strong bonds, between children and staff alike, imparting a sense of security, the crucial ingredient for health and growth.
Our dedicated and caring staff are passionate about early childhood education and have the experience and qualifications to provide high-quality care.

Golden Acorns follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring a high-quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum. Our focus is on play-based, nature-inspired learning that nurtures each child's unique interests and abilities.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in England sets the statutory framework for early childhood education and outlines what government‑funded childcare includes.
At Golden Acorns, we believe children flourish when they experience more than the minimum. While the EYFS provides an essential foundation, it does not cover the rich, nature‑inspired learning and extended opportunities that are central to our approach.
To offer this enhanced experience, we provide a Curriculum enrichment package. These carefully designed additions enrich each child’s day and support their development in ways that go beyond the basic EYFS requirements.
Families accessing government‑funded hours are asked to contribute a small additional sessions fee towards these premium services if they wish to opt in,
What this includes:
Access to our online parent app (Ovivio)
Extra materials for Activities
Flannels for indépendant use
Special celebrations events
However, please note, these are not a condition of funding places and can be opted out at any time by parents.
We charge a parents contribution fee of the following for those who wish for us to provide consumables, please ensure if you do not wish to opt in for these you provide your child’s own consumables of the sessions they are with us. Should you opt out of the packages but not provide the consumables, as a duty of care we will provide the above and charges will be applied where applicable.
