Golden Acorns Child Care - Where Learning is Fun!

At Golden Acorns our SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) Sam, plays a vital role in ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive—emotionally, socially, and developmentally. Rooted in our nature-inspired and nurturing philosophy, Sam champions inclusive practice and early intervention, working closely with families, staff, and external professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Early Identification & Support

Observing children’s development and identifying emerging needs, ensuring timely and appropriate support strategies are in place.

•  Individual Planning & Review

Coordinating and reviewing Individual Support Plans (ISPs), ensuring they reflect each child’s unique strengths and challenges.

•  Staff Guidance & Training

Supporting practitioners with strategies for inclusive practice, differentiation, and behaviour support, while promoting a culture of empathy and understanding.

•  Family Partnership

Building trusting relationships with families, offering guidance, reassurance, and signposting to external services when needed.

•  Liaison with External Agencies

Acting as the key point of contact for speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, and local authority SEND teams.

•  Compliance & Documentation

Ensuring all SEND documentation is up-to-date, confidential, and aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and SEND Code of Practice. Each child is valued and respected.

Our Approach:

Golden Acorns celebrates every child’s individuality. The SENCO works to embed inclusive values into our daily routines, play-based learning, and outdoor experiences—ensuring that children with additional needs feel safe, valued, and empowered.
